Eval Digital is closely following the biggest cybersecurity conference in the world! Find out about the first day of presentations and what’s new in the area of data protection and cybersecurity.
On the first day of the RSA Conference 2024, one talk that stood out in the CSA AI Summit panel was that of Rehan Jalil, CEO of Securiti, who presented an exceptional talk entitled“Building Trust in AI: Proactive Safeguards for Responsible Adoption of GenAI“.
His presentation addressed a critical challenge facing companies: how to safely and ethically incorporate the revolutionary advances of next-generation artificial intelligence (GenAI) into their operations.
Jalil began by pointing out that the convergence of data and AI represents the biggest business transformation in history, with unparalleled potential to drive innovation and automation.
He illustrated his point with examples of how GenAI is already impacting sectors such as manufacturing, logistics and strategic management, bringing significant gains in efficiency and productivity.
However, the speaker emphasized that along with the opportunities comes the urgent need to implement robust governance for the security of the unstructured data that feeds GenAI models. He identified four fundamental pillars:
- Unstructured Data Security: Catalog and protect all files and objects used in GenAI projects, ensuring that confidential information is secure and controlled, in line with the strictest encryption and access control standards.
- Permissions for Unstructured Data: Maintain strict management of access permissions to source data systems in GenAI projects, preserving data integrity and security, and avoiding privacy breaches or leaks.
- Sanitizing Unstructured Data: Implementing automated processes for classifying and sanitizing data, hiding sensitive information in files that will be used in GenAI projects, to eliminate the risk of misuse or accidental leaks.
- Source of Unstructured Data: Continuously assess the risks associated with data and AI models sourced from IaaS and SaaS providers, and rigorously classify AI models according to global regulatory requirements, ensuring full compliance and control.
Jalil recommended adopting Securiti’s data and AI governance framework, which provides a comprehensive solution for implementing these proactive safeguards. He also highlighted success stories of leading companies that have adopted these practices, resulting in a responsible and secure adoption of GenAI.
Jalil’s presentation at RSA Conference 2024 provided valuable, actionable guidelines for organizations looking to harness the full transformative potential of GenAI, while building trust, accountability and regulatory compliance into their AI operations. His talk set a new standard for the ethical and safe adoption of artificial intelligence in the market.
